Mobile Step-Up Transformer – Earthing System Analysis & Deployment

Mobile Step-Up Transformer Earthing Analysis

Project Completed - Q2 2025

Universal Guard was commissioned to characterize and optimize the earthing system for a high-capacity mobile step-up transformer fleet. These units are critical for rapid infrastructure restoration and temporary power augmentation across diverse geographical terrains, requiring a versatile yet robust safety baseline.

The project involved exhaustive soil resistivity profiling and fault current distribution analysis to ensure that touch and step voltage limits remained within safety thresholds under various deployment scenarios. Our specialized modelling accounted for the transient nature of these installations while maintaining compliance with AS/NZS 2067 and ENA EG1 standards.

Key Deliverables:

  • Multi-layer soil resistivity modelling for dynamic deployment sites
  • Fault current distribution analysis and safety margin verification
  • Standardized earthing kit design for rapid field assembly and verification
  • Detailed technical reporting and compliance certification for utility-scale interconnection

The resulting standardized earthing solution provides a high level of safety and operational readiness, enabling the efficient and compliant deployment of mobile power assets in critical grid support roles.
